Responsibilities
- The Military Personnel Subcommittee is responsible for military personnel policy, reserve component integration and employment issues, military health care, military education, and POW/MIA issues, among others.

- Member, House Subcommittee on Aviation.
- Member, House Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces.
- Member, House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation.
- Member, House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit.
- Co-chair of the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, created by the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 in order to develop a strategic approach against cyberattacks.
Political/Professional Career
- Elected in 2016 (District 8), which covers northeast WI, including Green Bay.
- Senior global market strategist at Breakthrough Fuel, a Green Bay based energy and supply chain management company founded in 2004.
- Foreign policy advisor to Scott Walker, then governor of Wisconsin during his 2016 bid for president (2015).
- Staff member for Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn), then chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
- Advised on Middle East and North Africa issues and on counterterrorism (2013-2015).
- Served in the Marine Corps (2006-2013). Deployed twice to Iraq as a commander of intelligence teams. Also served on General David Petraeus’s Central Command Assessment Team in the Middle East. Retired as captain.
- His third term in office will expire in 2023.
Education
- Ph.D. in International Relations from Georgetown University – 2015. Also received his M.A. in Government from Georgetown in 2013, and an M. A. in Security Studies in 2012.
- MSSI (Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence) degree from the National Intelligence University, Washington, D.C. – 2010.
- B.S. from Princeton University – 2006. Joined the Marine Corps that same year.
Personal
- Michael John Gallagher was born on March 3, 1984 in Madison, Wisconsin. Lived in Green Bay through middle school before moving to Santa Ana, CA.
- Married in 2019 to Green Bay native and Broadway actress Anne Horak Gallagher; they have one child together.
