Brad Williams will provide expert and in-depth coverage of the panoply of network and cyber issues across all services, from enterprise technology to DoD’s all domain concept of warfighting. The beat will range from agencies like the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to CYBERCOM, the intelligence agencies, program executive offices and military service network commands. In addition, the role will provide extensive coverage of the defense information technology industry sector which is developing the tech that is rapidly changing defense.

Williams began his journalism career at McClatchy, leaving to pursue his master’s degree. He subsequently worked for a decade as a technology writer working with companies in the public and private sectors. During that time Williams continued his technical education to inform his writing, eventually earning cybersecurity certification. In 2015, Brad began a writing consultancy specializing in cybersecurity content, serving emerging start-ups, publications, and creative agencies. In 2017 he joining Fifth Domain: Cyber, a part of the Defense News media group, as a dedicated freelance writer upon the brand’s launch. There he developed an enterprise beat on federal and military cybersecurity strategy, policy, operations, and emerging tech. Between 2018 to 2020 Williams served as a senior technical writer at Symantec and then Verizon Business. Over his career, Brad has authored hundreds of technical publications on a broad range of technologies, including cybersecurity solutions, enterprise IT, federal networks, and C4ISR systems. Williams earned his master’s degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Outside of work, he is a member of the United States Chess Federation and pursues his longtime interest in creative writing.
