LOS ANGELES — As chairman of the House Armed Services Tactical Air and Land Forces subcommittee, Rep. Rob Wittman plays a leading role overseeing the sprawling modernization efforts underway by the military services.

At the Reagan National Defense Forum, the Virginia Republican spoke with Breaking Defense about some key developments he’d like to see from the Pentagon on critical projects: the Air Force’s program to field drone wingmen, the Army’s pivot to the Indo-Pacific and how the US can catch up to China in the electromagnetic spectrum.

Wittman, whose committee is integral in crafting the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), additionally shared his view of a path forward for next year’s NDAA, as well as the passage of a supplemental funding bill requested by President Joe Biden.
