After nearly 70 Israeli firms had signed up for the mid-June show in Paris, the French government told them last week not to come, citing the French president's condemnation of Israel's conduct in the Gaza conflict.
The German Armed Forces said it could neither confirm nor deny the talks, but said it is "in constant communication with the industry about possible relevant developments in the defense sector."
Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus, told reporters the news was "very encouraging for the industry" and the company would "ensure continuity in the production of the Typhoon" until a sixth-gen fighter is ready to fly.
Under the terms of the co-operation agreement, Airbus intends on providing “its expertise in the interaction of unmanned and manned military aircraft,” while Helsing will “contribute its AI stack of relevant software-defined mission capabilities."
MBDA’s Vice President for Europe Arnaud Rousset said that there needs to be “commonality” between both programs, as well as elsewhere across Europe.
Though Paris seems committed to going with a European solution, a Boeing exec told Breaking Defense the company has "informally" had discussions with stakeholders in France.
“It makes sense to adapt any restrictions that would make it impossible for Ukrainians to hit back against artillery positions, missile positions in Russia, directly attacking Ukrainian forces or Ukrainian cities," said the NATO Secretary General.
