At Breaking D, we strongly believe in pushing the military and Congress to consider new ideas — hopefully, better ideas — so we print op-eds by top officials in Congress and the military, as well as defense experts, to move things along.
We are proud to announce that our latest addition to our Board of Contributors (experts who write for us persistently — if not regularly) is Eric Fanning. Well known for seeming to have held almost every top civilian job in the military under the Obama administration (slight exaggeration) Fanning now heads the powerful Aerospace Industries Association. AIA boasts some 340 members who do business in the aerospace industries, from the giants, Boeing and Lockheed, to the Acme Industrial Company to Yarde Metals.
Fanning was listed by The Hill as one of its top lobbyists in 2018, but he’s not technically a registered lobbyist. I think that reflects the collective clout of AIA on the Hill. When you can walk into a room and tell a senator or senior congressman that a large number of the largest companies in America support a bill or an amendment, you’ve got some heft.
We are happy and proud to give Fanning another forum in which to express his views as president and CEO of AIA. His first op-ed runs Monday morning.
