Milley, Berger test positive for COVID-19

Milley experiencing "very minor" symptoms; other Joint Chiefs tested negative, Pentagon says.

WASHINGTON: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley and Marine Corps Commandant Gen. David Berger have tested positive for COVID-19, the Pentagon announced today in a brief statement.

Milley “is experiencing very minor symptoms and can perform all of his duties from the remote location. He has received the COVID-19 vaccines including the booster. All other Joint Chiefs of Staff except for one tested negative for COVID-19 yesterday,” according to the statement.

“Gen. Milley’s most recent contact with President Biden was on Wednesday, January 12 at Gen. [Raymond] Odierno’s funeral. He tested negative several days prior to and every day following contact with the President until yesterday,” the statement continued.

A spokesman for Berger confirmed in a brief statement to Breaking Defense he also tested positive for COVID-19 and added that his duties would remain unaffected.
