DoD authorizes first C2 gateway to modernize and update on its own for CJADC2

DoD’s Chief Digital & AI Office bought Anduril’s Lattice Mesh to let frontline units share data without having to relay it through a central HQ. Now CDAO and Anduril are letting third parties build apps to run on Lattice Mesh, without having to go through Anduril.

Inside the Pentagon, the air-gapped module will be used by the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO) "to bring the maintenance digital ecosystem to Airmen in austere and forward deployed locations," the tech giant says.
"We’re trying to be easier to work with," the Pentagon's Chief Digital & AI Officer Radha Plumb said as CDAO recruits hundreds of companies to help expand CJADC2 beyond the current "minimum viable capability."
Overall, DIU plans to release around two dozen solicitations for new projects in the next few months.
“I think the Pentagon can do this, [but] I think they're understanding that they do have to scope this down," Rep. Rob Wittman said about the Pentagon's CJADC2 effort.
The recent announcements on Palantir’s Maven Smart System and other strategic tools are just the start, CDAO Radha Plumb told Breaking Defense, with announcements on tactical and business systems coming by fall.
