The AARGM-ER is a medium-range air-to-ground missile, employed for the suppression or destruction of enemy air defense systems.
In response to lawmakers, Navy says budget cuts will add $700 million long-term to retrofit fighters.
With the missile past milestone C, the Navy is now clear to award Northrop Grumman a low-rate initial production contract in the coming months.
