A senior Navy officer is seeking to dispel notions the changes to the LCS program and the frigate program were connected.
“When the bullets start flying... I can't wait to send somebody out there. I need somebody there now,” said Capt. Khary Hembree-Bey, program manager for LCS fleet introduction and sustainment.
The Navy has fixed one ship, but doesn't know how long it'll take to get the full LCS fleet to top speed.
"In practical terms, [the delay] has almost zero impact because the LCS has, for the most part, not been deployed," much in the past 15 years said Bryan Clark, an analyst at the Hudson Institute.
The debate over the operational relevance of the controversial Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) continues.
