A new Collins Aerospace system enhances U.S. Army mobile command and control.
"We're very much complimentary to the Space Force and to the other services, but we truly do see space as that critical component to set the theater well in advance of phase one operations," Col. Donald Brooks, commandant of the Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence, told Breaking Defense. "When the first round is shot, the missile is shot, space needs to be there months, if not years, in advance to help set those conditions."
“The Moroccans are fully integrated” in the exercise, said Lt. Col. Aaron Ritzema, helping hunt simulated “enemy” transmitters with high-altitude balloons and four different types of drones.
Since dropping out of the INF Treaty, the US Army embarked on development of several new, ground-launched weapons that could be bound for Europe in 2026.
“This is a significant step in our partnership with the Philippines, our oldest treaty ally in the region,” said Brig. Gen. Bernard Harrington, commanding general of the 1st MDTF.
"Our real value comes from us providing options to the joint force here, providing options to the Joint Force commander," the new formation's commander said.

The announced assignments will see new faces heading to important acquisition posts in the Army.
A commander for the task force as been chosen, but no final basing decision has been made.
The service's cloud and data efforts will be "anchored" to the Multi-Domain Task Forces as the Army looks to ensure data is accessible and resilient in combat.
