"My number one priority within the command is: how do I increase my battlespace awareness, in particular, how do I look at the space domain?" SPACECOM head Gen. Jim Dickinson said.
"The government has not decided what we want our format to be" for SSA data provided by commercial firms, explained SPACECOM's Col. Scot Brodeur. "But when we do decide, in short order I need y'all to be all in on getting onto that format."

"[I]t is fair to say that IC and DoD efforts have not always been aligned optimally, whether in acquisitions or operations," said Maj. Gen. Michael Guetlein, NRO's deputy director.
GAO finds that the Space C2 program "is planning to meet previously deferred requirements that proved too complex for prior programs to achieve," and "also plans to address new and emerging threats to space assets, for which requirements are not yet defined."
"The goal is to eventually integrate all of AFSPC data" into the UDL, says AFSPC, "along with other sources such as commercial space (already there but more coming), multi-domain data from such as air, land, sea, data from other agencies, and even academia."
"A lot of the challenges we face in space are big data problems," says Gen. John Raymond, who is dual-hatted as commander of Space Command and Air Force Space Command.
CFSCC's mission includes executing "tactical control over globally dispersed Air Force, Army, and Navy space units that command satellites in every orbital regime."
Air Force Maj. Gen. Stephen Whiting is the new head of SPACECOM's Combined Force Space Component Command; Gen. Tom James leads the new Joint Task Force Space Defense.
"We've got teams that are working side by side with the JAIC team and obviously the leadership continuity there is key for us. And we're also working across DoD. I see lines with the AIM initiative (Augmenting Intelligence using Machines) within the IC."
US Space Command will officially stand-up on Aug. 29, with four main missions: "missile warning, satellite operations, space control and space support," says JCS Chair Gen. Joseph Dunford.
