Breaking Defense, the leading business media brand on the strategy, policy and technology of defense, is pleased to announce the hire of Jaspreet Gill in a dedicated role as Defense Networks and Emerging Technologies reporter.

The move underscores the continuing growth of Breaking Defense and our commitment to industry-leading coverage of the fast-growing market sectors of defense information technology, cyber and C4ISR. In the last calendar year, Breaking Defense has doubled its editorial staff, reflecting a commitment to top-tier defense journalism.

Gill will provide in-depth coverage of the panoply of defense network and technology issues across all services, from enterprise IT to DoD’s All Domain concept of warfighting. Coverage areas include the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), CYBERCOM, the intelligence agencies, C4ISR and network program executive offices. She will also closely cover associated critical technologies that will provide the backbone for future defense capabilities, such as 5G, AI, robotics, quantum computing and directed energy.

Jaspreet Gill comes to Breaking Defense from her previous role as senior technology reporter and associate editor for Inside Defense. Jaspreet reported on emerging technologies, cybersecurity and the US Army, with a focus on the service’s modernization priorities and acquisition programs. An upstate New York native, she is an alumna of Syracuse University’s renowned S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she received a master’s degree in journalism.

“I’m thrilled to add Jaspreet to the team,” said Aaron Mehta, Breaking Defense’s Editor-in-Chief. “Her previous experience will be invaluable when writing about next-generation technologies. By its nature, this job will collaborate with our other coverage beats, and she brings the right attitude to work with our current staff and ensure the best journalism possible on these vital topics.”

“Breaking Defense is delighted to welcome Jaspreet on board in this exciting role, on the best staff of journalists in the defense,” said David Smith, Publisher and Managing Director for Breaking Defense. “The addition of Jaspreet to our staff, with a focus on the cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of national security, is another milestone in the phenomenal growth and market leadership Breaking Defense has established over the last three years.”
