Having a strong US defense industrial base in areas like communications, sensors, and missiles is key to operations in complex battlespace. Thales Defense & Security (TDSI) has produced these systems in the US for years, and others like the TOW missile smart nose.
Breaking Defense visited with TDSI at their manufacturing facilities in Clarksburg, MD. We walked their production lines for circuit boards, helmet-mounted displays, and the TOW missile smart nose, and discussed these programs with Jeff Detwiler, vice president for program management at Thales Defense & Security.
