Breaking Defense is pleased to announce the addition of Seth J. Frantzman as our Israeli correspondent. Frantzman will helm Breaking Defense’s coverage of Israel’s security developments, defense industry and geopolitics.
As a correspondent and analyst for The Jerusalem Post and other publications, Frantzman covered the war against the Islamic State, several conflicts in Gaza, the conflict in Ukraine, and the refugee crises in Eastern Europe. Since 2011, has reported from Israel, Iraq, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Senegal, the UAE, Ukraine and Russia. He previously covered the Israeli defense industry for Defense News for six years.
Born in Maine, Frantzman received his Ph.D from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2010. He is Executive Director of The Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis and was a Ginsburg/Milstein Writing Fellow at the Middle East Forum. Frantzman is the author of two books; Drone Wars: Pioneers, Killing Machines, Artificial Intelligence, and the Battle for the Future (2021) and After ISIS: America, Iran and the Struggle for the Middle East (2019).
Frantzman has served as researcher for the Rubin Center for Research in International Affairs at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, the JDC, The Shalem Center, and the Jerusalem Institute for Market Studies. He has been a lecturer in American Studies at Al-Quds University and was a Post-Doctoral researcher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
